Abstract

The effects of different bases saturation values and corrected layers of soil acidity on dry matter production of maize plants were studied under controlled conditions. With the increase of lime doses, the values of pH (CaCl2) and base saturation were increased. On the other hand, the exchangeable aluminum values were reduced. The values of shoot and roots dry matter production were significantly higher then the control. The increases of deep correction layers resulted in an increase of dry matter production of maize plants. On the other hand, for the same correction layer, the values of dry matter production was not significantly different between the bases saturation treatments. Even though the maize plants have presented a positive answer to liming, the values of bases saturation higher than 40% did not significantly increase dry matter production of maize plants
