Abstract

Nursing humanization has been discussed in the academic environment for a long time, however, it has not been put into practice. This study shows humanization aspects of clients hospitalized in an adult ICU. After obtaining a favorable appraisal from the Ethic and Research Committee, 93 handbooks were analyzed and only 8 clients fulfilled the qualifications required to compose the sample. Data collection was carried out through interviews, after the signature of Free and Clear Consent Term at the participants’ domicile. The information was gathered partially according to Bardin’s orientations (1977). The results showed that for clients the nursing interaction and attention are more significant than the technical care, the movements restriction practice leads to discomfort and anguish, and most of health system users are not conscious about their rights. We suggest the staff to be concerned on the necessity of acting under the client’s individual and globalized point of view.
