The aim of this text is to compare Othello, by Shakespeare, to a Brazilian adaptation of this tragedy produced for young people. We intend to focus on racial aspects related to the protagonists of the books, something we think the teacher must consider together with the work of the original text. In order to follow this purpose, a theoretical approach precedes our considerations. This approach, by the way, considers three different topics: points of view about the use of literary adaptations at school, the representation of marginalized groups in scholar textbooks, and the recommendations of the PCNs – Temas Transversais towards the approach of cultural plurality by the teacher.Downloads
