The objective of this paper is to present an appropriate conservation project to control the hydric erosion of Caiuá sandstone soils in the northwestern region of the state of Paraná, Brazil. The project is the consequence of the interaction of research, public rural extension service, farmers and the Municipal Commission for Soils. Over the 1988-to-1995 period, soil and water management and conservation at farming system toposequence covered with pasture, perennial and annual crops of the Inhacanga basin, in the municipality of Altônia were studied. The basic condition for soil and water management and conservation in this region is the installation through disk plow of terracing system over all the soil toposequence for each farming system.Downloads
