Abstract

Coffee tree lines (Coffea Arabica L. “Catimor”) (Rubiaceae) competition assay was performed to evaluate the correlations and the cause-effect relationships between row coffee productivity and other agronomic traits. The productivity showed the highest correlations with vegetative vigor, die-back, and ripening. It was verified, by path coefficient analysis, that vegetative vigor had the highest effect on productivity, and they also showed the highest correlation. Die-back also had direct effect on the productivity. There was no cause-effect relationship between productivity and ripening, regardless of the high correlation between them. The productivity was not effected by plant height, plant width, and branch curvature

Graduado em Agronomia pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1982), Mestre (1986 ) e Doutor(1989) em Genética e Melhoramento pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa, com Pós-Doutorado em Genética Molecular na Universidade da Flórida (1991 e 2002). Atualmente é Professor Associado I da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Tem experiência na área de Agronomia, com ênfase em Melhoramento Vegetal, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: café, genética e melhoramento e biotecnologia Currículo Lattes
