Methods of evaluation of the selectivity of herbicides for sugarcane (Saccharum spp.)

Research evaluated the selectivity of herbicides applied to sugarcane, Saccharum spp. (Poaceae), with no weed interference. Twofold checks were undertaken and data were analyzed in two different ways. First, areas treated with herbicides were compared to the average value of all twofold checks. In this case, the conventional method for studying selectivity, herbicide affected neither growth nor yield characteristics. This led to the conclusion that all herbicides applied were selective to sugarcane.
