Influence of common bean cultivars, chemical fertilization and insecticide use on Empoasca kraemeri and Bemisia tabaci populations were evaluated as well as their damage caused to the rainy season crop. The genotypes Iapar MD-806, Iapar MD-808, IAC-carioca and Bolinha were analyzed. The number of nymphs and adults of leafhopper and whitefly per plant, percentage of leafhopper and whitefly damage and number of plants with golden mosaic symptoms were evaluated. The number and weight of the strings per plant, the number of grains per plant and weight of grains (kg/ha) were estimated at harvest. It was concluded that (1) Iapar MD-806 and Iapar MD-808 genotypes were less suitable to E. kraemeri attack, while Bolinha and IAC-Carioca were susceptible; (2) insecticide use reduced the leafhopper nymph and adult populations as well as the attack symptoms; (3) fertilization increases leafhopper nymph and adult populations for Iapar MD-806 but not for the remaining genotypes; (4) fertilization and insecticide use reduce whitefly population and golden mosaic incidenceDownloads
