Abstract

An animal–drawn agriculture implement prototype was developed at the Mechanical Engineering Department, UFPB, which with few adaptations may be used in land tilling, sowing and weeding. Its performance was compared with a conventional cultivator in tilling and weeding operations, and with a sowing machine in corn seeds sowing. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with fifteen repetitions and 6m wide and 15m long plots. The experimental data were statistically analyzed through “F” test. The cost of the prototype was lower when compared with that of similar implements available on the market. The experiment included UFPB, Unioeste and UEM

    possui graduação em Engenharia Agrícola pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1981) , mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica [C. Grande] pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1986) e doutorado em Agronomia (Energia na Agricultura) pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1999) .
