Abstract

Current paper analyzes Georges Canguilhem´s propositions to endorse the studies that give him due prominence within the field of historical epistemology. The descriptive research with a qualitative approach deals with the theoretical framework postulated by the author. Since Canguilhem is regarded in France as one of the most expressive in the field of the history of science, his concepts may contribute on the manner concepts are mobilized from the discontinuities inherent to all epistemological historicity. It is important to reflect how the theorizing involving terms such as ‘concept’, ‘discontinuity’ and ‘recurrence’ traverse the author’s works and how they may currently help in the de-superficialization of linguistics, especially in the field of Applied Linguistics as an (in)disciplinary field of studies.
