Abstract

The region of the Quarta Colônia celebrated, since 1975, the Italian Immigration Centennial celebrations in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. For these festivities, each locality has prepared activities such as church services, parades, dinners, and lunches. Furthermore, in order to disclose the immigration process, Priest Luiz Sponchiado - parish priest of the municipality of Nova Palma - produced the chronicles of colonization to report the daily lives of Italian immigrants in that colonial region. This paper seeks to understand the speech spread about the Italian immigration in the festivities of one hundred years of Italian immigration in the Quarta Colônia, through the chronicles of colonization. The content of that material will be analyzed to understand the discourse about the immigration process in the region of the Quarta Colônia.
