Methodological procedures and guidelines for Spatial Synthesis with quantitative attributes by maps algebra and multicriteria analysis

Abstract

The effectiveness graphics communication is not direct result of greater or lesser quantity of maps produced and can be obtained by showing a single map making by the association of different themes. The quality of maps generated from the combination of multiple themes (or spatial synthesis) depends directly on the criteria used in choice and combination of themes/variables (algebra of maps) and how to do systematize the procedures employed. Using the example a empirical study of the house conditions in Curitiba - PR, are shown the steps and guidelines necessary for preparation spatial synthesis at supported by multicriteria analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spreadsheets.
