Abstract

This study aimed to know how health professionals and community agents involved in two Family Health Strategy Units, in a city of the state of Minas Gerais, act in the prevention and control of uterine cervical cancer. Interviews guided by a questionnaire were carried out with sixteen team members. Thematic analysis was used for data analysis. Results showed differences between orientations given to women by health professionals and health team community agents, for the prevention and control of uterine cervical cancer. However, the interest in acting with women was evidenced, in order to show them the importance of care, to avoid and/or control a disease with high incidence and mortality rates among Brazilians. Permanent education of professionals and community health agents and the adoption of new strategies will help in the standardization of assistance, contributing for a better quality of care given to population.
