Abstract

The strategy of Family Health brings a new paradigm to organization of health services based on team work, on the identification of the action area, on the professional link with the individuals, family and communities. There is also, a necessity to incorporate other knowledge such as social, educational and psychological. This model of health service implies demands and responsibilities related to the assistance to the community beyond creativity which requires appropriate technical and scientific support. This investigation has the objective of identifying and analyzing the formation of professionals of family health teams of a city in the São Paulo state. This study had an exploratory approach and the analysis was based on the qualitative interpretation, thematic modality. The participants were 24 workers. A semi structured interview technique was used. The results showed that the professionals are not prepared in the workplace and their education is not appropriate for this model of assistance. To comply with the changes occurring at the health sector and for an assistance with quality and humanization, it is necessary that the health organizations give opportunity for improvement of their professionals. The health organizations should have their objectives better defined, and the workers should be prepared to perform their tasks efficiently.
