Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to characterize the profile of under one year old children assisted at the Child Health Care Program applied by the Family Health Team II in Campo Mourao, Parana state, in 2003. For that, a research on the records and on the vaccination schedule of 35 children assisted in the period was performed. The analyzed variables included number of consultations, exclusive breastfeeding (EB), vaccination schedule up to 1 year of age, nutritional assessment, occurrence of illnesses, and child development. The results have shown that 57.1% of the children had about seven consultations on the Child Health Care Program; 71.4% have received exclusive breastfeeding for six months; all of them had their vaccine schedules updated; 82.9% were on normal weight; 60% have had some illnesses, specially related to infection on the upper respiratory system, and all of them have presented an adequate development.
