Theory and practice of nursing and its relation with the information system

Abstract

This study seeks to reflect about the connection between theory and practice in nursing as elements that should be articulated, aiming at the development of information systems, which approximate the reality of nursing care and lessen the gap between formal and informal knowledge (theory-practice). In this direction the following philosophical aspects are tackled: common sense, applied science, practice and critical focusing. Aside from this an analysis was made of the theory-practice connection and the implications for the success or failure of information systems. As conclusion, it is verified that the theory-practice connection cannot be dichotomized from the information system construction process.
