Environmental sustainability measurement regarding eco-efficiency: the case-study of Piramide Hotel in Natal - RN

Abstract

This article is a survey on sustainable development related to the environment, in view of the global concern regarding the use of natural resources in the production process. At the same time seeks to measure the eco-efficiency of a five star hotel, located in the city of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte. The same aims to verify whether the Pyramid hotel conducts its management policies using an eco-efficient management practices as a guideline. As to the method, it is a case study, in order to deepen functional issues in more detail in this hotel in order to know him better. The type of research is descriptive, it aims to expose the frames from the degree of environmental sustainability of the hotel as well as of your eco-efficiency. About procedures, it is literature, because they also use other studies already prepared. The approach is quantitative, it will quantify the data obtained in order to transform it into information that makes it possible to achieve the objective mentioned above. For the collection and tabulation of data was used for measuring corporate sustainability (Grid Corporate Sustainability – GSE), created by Aldo Callado in his doctoral thesis in 2010. From the GSE, this study intended to collect, measure and calculate the environmental sustainable development and while measuring eco-efficiency of that hotel on the use of natural resources. In the results, it was found that this hotel is both environmentally sustainable and eco-efficient in its management.
