Author Guidelines

Imagens da Educação is published under the Open Access model and is therefore free for anybody to read and download, and to copy and disseminate according to the Creative Commons Attribution  

Instructions to Authors

a)Articles shall be accompanied by an abstract and keywords and shall contain an introduction, conclusion and bibliographical references.

b)The title, with a maximum of twenty words, in Portuguese and English, shall be adequate and precise in its wording. A short running title with a maximum of six words shall also be provided.

c)The abstract, with no more than 200 words, shall provide brief information on the contents of the article. Up to four keywords shall be added at the end of the abstract in Portuguese and English and they shall not be similar to words in the title.

d)Articles shall not exceed 20 pages, including figures, tables and bibliographical references. Space between the lines shall be 1.5 cm and pages and lines numbered. Article shall be typed in MS-Word, or similar, with size 12 Times New Roman font.

e) Text shall be formatted in A4 and margins shall be as follows: lower, upper and right 2.5 cm; left 2.5 cm.

f)File containing the article shall be annexed and shall not exceed 2MB. It shall not contain any type of identification with regard to author(s).

g)Tables, figures and graphs shall be inserted in the text following their mention. Colored illustrations are accepted and published on the on-line mode.

h)Figures and tables shall be preferentially 7.65 cm in width and should not exceed 16 cm.

i)Digitalized figures shall have a 300 dpi resolution and preferentially saved in jpg. Colored illustrations shall not be accepted for the print edition.

j) Bibliography shall follow the examples below, according to the Brazilian Association for Technical Norms (ABNT). Quotes in the text shall have surname and year of publication: Caporalini (2005) or (CAPORALINI, 2005); in the case of two authors, Veiga and Santos (2008) or (VEIGA; SANTOS, 2008); three or more authors, provide the first surname, followed by et al. (GHEORGHIU et al., 2008).

k) Quote sources from classical works (up to the 18th century) shall follow traditional rules, according to the following examples: Example 1: (author in the text) Homer exults the people, saying: "Courage, my sons! Take care; take care ever more; none should be vanquished by sleep [...]" (Iliad, X, 173); Example 2: (author is not part of the text): "Courage, my sons! Take care; take care ever more; none should be vanquished by sleep [...]" (HOMER, Iliad, X, 173); Example 3: (textual quote of poetic lines - original edition) "Non iam coniugium [...]" (VIRGIL, Aeneid, IV, 431-434). All references should follow the standard given by current ABNT version.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The text is 1.5 line spacing; uses a Times New Roman 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF document file format.
