Abstract

Our intention is to analyze the production in Londrina and Maringá’s urban space, concerning the urban (de)centralization process by means of equipment production, consumption activities and services, in the period of 1990 to 2012. Thus, we propose to understand and analyze why and how the decentralization process occurred due to the formation of one or more urban services or activities nucleus in Londrina and Maringá, and its consequent specialization. Here we highlight the importance of understanding why just now Maringá will enter a deeper decentralization process started by the presence of Catuaí shopping mall (inaugurated in November 2010), as Londrina has been under this process for several years and still is. Then, there are new ways being created in this process denoting more complexity when compared to Londrina.
