INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

The journal Psicologia em Estudo is an international bilingual journal. Texts by national authors will be accepted in Portuguese. Texts by foreign authors will be accepted in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish, duly revised. It is also noted that only one article of the same authorship will be published per year.

At the time of submission, it is also mandatory to send, duly signed: the Submission Letter (declaring that the present work is unpublished and original, strictly followed all ethical procedures, and is not submitted to another journal for publication. In addition, authorizing language reformulation, if necessary, to meet the standards of the journal Psicologia em Estudo); the Editoral Commitiment Letter (in which authors assume the commitment and responsibility to issue two reviews/evaluations of manuscripts directed by the journal Psicologia em Estudo. In addition, they commit to providing the name and data of three possible reviewers); the Open Science Compliance form (already mentioned previously).

All approved works, upon their final publication in Psicologia em Estudo, will receive their Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Texts in this modality are evaluated only by the Editorial Board and executive team regarding their scientific merit (minimum 15 and maximum 25 pages).

Author Contribution

All those who contributed to conception, development, and analysis of the presented data are identified as authors. Thus, after manuscript approval, the corresponding author will be asked to inform each author’s contributions for one of the roles: Problematization and Conceptualization; Analysis; Writing; Final approval. This information will be inserted in the “Author contribution” section at the end of the manuscript.

SciELO recommends the use of the Credit Taxonomy (Contributor Role Taxonomy).

Manuscript Preparation

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check submission compliance with all items listed below. Submissions not in accordance with the standards will be returned to authors. The following aspects are considered at this screening stage:

  • Mandatory documents (Manuscript; Approval by the institution ethics committee, under Resolutions 466/12 and 510/16 of the Conselho Nacional de Saúde, when necessary; Open Science Compliance Form; Submission Letter; Editorial Commitment Letter);
  • The contribution is original and unpublished and is not under evaluation by another journal; or, as a special case, is a text already published in a foreign journal and accompanied by authorization signed by the editor of the journal where it was originally published. An attached letter must include: authorization to begin editorial process and language review, transfer of copyright to the journal, signed by all authors, indicating the modality in which the text fits;
  • The text strictly follows journal standards, such as: page quantity according to modality; double spacing; citations according to APA standards; abstract; three keywords according to Psychology terminology available in three languages in BVS-Psi; abstract; keywords; resumen; palabras-clave; full title in Portuguese, English, and Spanish; short title in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Or, the modality of my text does not require abstracts and keywords;
  • References comply with APA standards, do not exceed the limit of 30 (thirty), including up to 10% self-citations. Of these, at least 40% refer to the last 5 years;
  • Strict observation of journal and APA standards regarding: footnotes, annexes, figures, tables, and graphs;
  • There is no authorship identification in the text. It was also removed from file properties in Word, thus ensuring journal anonymity criteria for peer review;
  • All Internet page addresses (URLs) included in the text are active and clickable;
  • Submission files are in Microsoft Word format (Word for Windows 6.0 or later), double-spaced (all manuscript parts), Times New Roman font, size 12, not exceeding page limits for the category. Page setup must be A4, with 2.54 cm margins on all sides. Do not use Word “track changes”;
  • All supplementary documents must be attached in the electronic system in Word or PDF format. The total size of electronically submitted files must not exceed 3MB;
  • Maximum of six authors allowed per article;
  • One author holds a doctoral degree.
