Abstract

This study discusses aspects of the student evaluation in the school, particularly in Physical Education. We investigated the possibility of using individual portfolios as an evaluation instrument for the learning process. The research was conducted through an educational intervention with the aim of supporting data collected from the records of the following participants: the teacher-researcher and 23 students of the fourth grade of elementary school of a private school. This is a qualitative research, based on the type of sign paradigm. The primary sources were the students portfolios and the teacher-researcher diary. The study shows that experience with the portfolio contributed to the restructure of the pedagogical practice of evaluation in a dialogue movement between theory and practice. The study encouraged the perception of changes in the relationship between the teacher and students. However, the evaluation of the results indicates the need for a more adequate environment, so the teacher is able to implement the proposal in his/her classes.
