Abstract

This study aims to verify the relation between the consumption of hyper protein nutritional supplements and anger expression among bodybuilders. 127 bodybuilders who reportedly consume protein supplementation were selected. Data was collected by the following tools: State Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI) and an interview form with questions about the ingestion of food rich in protein on regular diet and regarding type and frequency of nutritional supplement use. In average, subjects had shown anger score and anger expression above Brazilian population’s average levels and, reinforcing, had anger management and inside anger scores below the average. There was an association between anger expression and weekly protein ingestion (diet + supplements). The results suggest hyper protein diets in bodybuilders might have their expressed aggressiveness increased in anger expression management difficulties.
