This study’s aim was to determine the metabolic transition (MT) by the lactate minimum test (LMT) in sedentary malnourished rats. Young male Wistar rats were separated into two groups, for 16 weeks: Casein 17% (Control; from 30 to 150 days of age); Casein 6% (Malnourished; from 30 to 150 days of age). It was evaluated: a) blood FFA, albumin and total protein concentrations; b) liver lipids concentrations and c) body weight and body length. For determination of MT was the LMT was used. The data were analyzed by Student’s unpaired t-test (P < 0.05). The malnourished rats showed hypoalbuminemia, hypoproteinemia and low body weight, which are malnutrition signs. The malnourished rats had blood lactate concentration at MT lower in relation to control animals but same exercise workload.Downloads
