Teaching network adolescents’ knowledge and perception about physical exercise from the north of Paraná

Abstract

The main purpose of this research consisted in identifying the knowledge and perception about physical exercise in athletes and non-athletes adolescents in the teaching network from a city of the north of Paraná state. Were part of the study 445 adolescents from 12 to 17 years old, from which 360 were public teaching network High School non-athletes students and 85 were athlete students. The measure instrument used was the knowledge and perception about physical exercise questionnaire. The non-athletes adolescents showed better levels of knowledge about physical exercise (♂ 16,8 (± 4,0), ♀ 17,2 (± 3,4); p=0,14) than the athletes (♂ 15,8 (± 3,8), ♀ 15,1 (± 3,4); p=0,83) but there was no statistically significant differences. This research highlights that the information about physical exercise must be implemented by coaches and teachers, in a way that these adolescents become more conscientious of quality of life’s importance.
