This study aims at identifying the factors (causes) that make individuals who graduate at Escola Paranaense de Formação de Ãrbitros – EPAFAF (School of Referees in Paraná), and those who have their names in the board of referees in the Federação Paranaense de Futebol (Footbal Federation in Paraná) quit their jobs as professional referees. In order to find the possible causes that make an individual quit his job as professional referee, a questionnaire with 32 questions was elaborated. With the analysis of the answers, we reached the conclusion that the lack of payment after working as the referee of a match, not agreeing with the level of the matches that were being appointed to, not agreeing with the criteria the refereeing committee used to display the referees, and also in disagreement with the policies of the association of referees and consequently not believing in the association of referees, were the situations that were pointed by the ex-referees as the situations that most influenced their decision of quitting their jobs as professional referees.Downloads
