The aim of the study was to verify if the glucose and free fatty acids (FFA) concentrations suffer changes after a 12 weeks swimming training period with no breaks and with three, six and nine days break of the training. Fifty-seven rats were randomly divided in five groups: sedentary (GS), training (GT), three days of detraining (GD3), six days of detraining (GD6) and nine days of detraining (GD9). There was no significant difference among the groups on glucose and FFA concentrations (glucose – GS: 192 (150 – 233); GT: 171 (161 – 216); GD3: 202 (158 – 214); GD6: 155 (124 – 191); GD9: 163 (149 – 207); FFA – GS: 596 (410 – 1110); GT: 851 (577 – 979); GD3: 400 (233 – 733); GD6: 404 (372 – 712); GD9: 392 (246 – 698). Also, no correlations were found between the concentrations too. Based on the results, we conclude that continuous training and the break in training do not cause benefits neither bad effects on the concentration of glucose and FFA in Wistar rats.Downloads
