Abstract

The book “Educação física escolar: Fundamentos de uma abordagem desenvolvimentista” was published in 1988. This essay brings a reflective thinking on the twenty years of this book from a discussion of the context in which it was done and on its theoretical foundations. Bearing in mind the nature of development and regarding the view of this process in the periods before and after the book, a set of arguments are put forward to highlight the limits and possibilities of the ideas born out of the book as an effort to constitute the physical education in schools.

    É Professor Titular da Universidade de São Paulo onde coordena o Grupo de Estudo Desenvolvimento da Ação e Intervenção Motora. Tem experiência nas áreas de Educação Física, Neurociência e Comportamento, além de atuar na avaliação da Pós-Graduação em Educação Física. Seus temas de principal interesse são: Estudos sobre o desenvolvimento da ação e do contexto do desenvolvimento humano, e Desenvolvimento da educação física para crianças.
