Abstract

This study aimed to describe the center of pressure displacement’s behavior (COP) in relation to postural balance in children with sensorineural hearing loss and to compare the mean values found in relation to the listeners, to compare the body balance in relation to gender and age groups; and investigate the behavior of the vision and support base in the upright position. This is a cross-sectional study, evaluating forty children being equally divided into two groups, the study group (SG) with a mean age of 8.8 ± 1.2 years, and the control group (CG) with a mean age of 9.3 ± 1.0 years. For data analysis the statistical inference ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis were used. Therefore, the results showed that the group of children with hearing loss had more instability in the standing position when compared to the GC. It is concluded that children with hearing loss showed a deficit of sensory organization, which justifies future intervention.
