Abstract

Soccer is an intermittent sport that demands the investigation of methods of training load’s quantification. The purposes of this study were to quantify and to compare the responses of different types of soccer trainings and matches. The training load was quantified in 30 professional soccer players (22,1±2,2 years; 9,3±1,8 % fat) in different types of training sessions using the TRIMP method proposed by Stagno et al. (2007). The ANOVA did not show significant differences (p>0,05) when mean values were compared in the following sessions: non-official games (JA), small sided games (ETT), simulated matches and continuous running (TC). Significant differences were found (p<0,05) comparing technical training and circuit training in JA, ETT, TC. Soccer training using small-sided exercises can be considered an important method to develop physical qualities along with technical and tactical skills. The TRIMPmod method proposed by STAGNO et al. (2007) can be a useful tool to control training load in soccer.
