Agreements and disagreements during the process of creation of higher education in Paraná: 1912-1922

This article aims at debating the process involved in the creation of the University of Parana in 1912, its division into the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Law in 1915, as well as comparing it to other state universities in 1920 and 1922, emphasizing the concept of higher education, the acts of groups involved with the university project and its connections with the State of Parana and with the organs of the Federal State. Giving emphasis to the context in which ideas were produced and the actions taken by the (intellectual) agents in the process of organizing higher education in the State of Parana, this research inserts it self in the intellectual history of education. It is based on the documents Statute of the University of Parana (1914), General Report of the University of Parana (1913-1922), Academic Magazine and on the intellectual concept as the means of organizing culture, as sistematized by Antonio Gramsci.
