A bachelor in the Ministry of Interior and Justice: Delfim Moreira and the education reformation in Minas Gerais

I suggest problematizing Delfi m Moreira’s performance in the tramitation process of Primary Education Reformation from 1902 to 1906. This study links Delfi m Moreira’s thoughts, the State and education. I would like to highlight not only who this intellectual was and what he thought and proposed for the education in Minas Gerais, but, also, what infl uenced this intellectual and how he managed to insert himself in the educational and political fi elds.Highlighting this man is enabling to understand the movement in support of modernizing the State, as in this movement, Brazilian intellectuals supported the State intervention to articulate social forces. Physicians, architects and lawyers took part in the governments, with the purpose of achieving the modernization recommended by the Republic.
