In the search of old newspapers: considerations about the use of non-pedagogical press as a source for writings about the history of education

This article aims to contextualize the importance acquired by varieties newspapers in the daily of the urban Brazilian societies in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as analyze the problem of the use of this discursive space by intellectuals from different origins and levels of success. Furthermore, this article discusses the theoretic-pedagogical procedures for researchers who use these newspapers as the source and research object to the writing of the history of education.
