Abstract

The experiment was carried out in 1999/2000, in a Niagara Rosada vineyard. The aim was to evaluate the effects of GA3 and stem girdling on cluster and berry characteristics. In the first season, the treatments consisted of cluster dipping in GA3 solutions of 0, 10.0, 22.5, 35; 47.5; 60 and 72.5 mg.l-1, associated or not to stem girdling, fifteen days after bloom. During the second season, the treatments were repeated, with addition of gibberellic acid treatments of 85 and 97.5 mg.l-1. The following parameters were evaluated: width, length and mass of clusters, berries and rachis; also, pedicel diameter. The experimental design used was completely randomized blocks. Results indicated that during the first season the best cluster and berry characteristics were obtained by gibberellic acid applications of 35 and 47.5 mg.l-1. In the second season, GA3 at 60 and 82.5 mg. .l-1 concentration, associated with stem girdling, showed the best results.
