Abstract

An experiment was installed in the field in order to evaluate the effect from water application uniformity in maize crop, Zea mays L. (Poaceae). The treatments consisted of five water depth applied at two water application uniformities: one high (> 80%) and another low ( < 70%), with Christiansen coefficient about 82 and 67%, respectively. Sprinkler-lateral system was used by depth water application. The treatment with the adequate net water depth application for the seven days irrigation interval was called L1, the other treatments L2, L3, L4 and L5 were applied at the percentage of 50, 75, 125 and 150% of the L1, respectively. The sowing was performed from May 17 to November 23, 1999. The cultivar BR 201 was used. The water application uniformity of 84 and 67%, for the treatments L1A and L1B, respectively, affected the crop yield, where the average maize seed yield was 6360 e 4675 kg . ha-1, respectively
