Abstract

In this search we analyzed the memory of people who studied in germany ethnic schools during the first Vargas’ administration (1930-1940), in the Novo Hamburgo city. The most schools of that region, at the time, was community and germany ethnic, being the region was marked by a process of immigration unleashed in Brazil at the 19th century. During that analyzed time, there was a process of reconstruction and massification of a version about the brazilian national identity in which educational system had a great impact. In the studied region, there was a singular process of representations fights and physical and symbolic violence in the affirmation of this national identity.
