Abstract

The aim of this study was to discuss part of the results of a national and international documentary survey in comparative perspective between Brazil and Portugal focusing on the scientific publication related to the history of education published from 1986 to 2006. The studies collected are divided into the following six thematic categories: development and international circulation of pedagogical knowledge, Historiography of Education, Primary Education, Childhood, Teaching profession and school disciplines. The analysis of this study allows one to observe a quantitative predominance of studies that approach the first category, as well as the absence and gaps of certain themes, revealing areas that should be further researched.
